All children must have yearly physical and all required immunizations. All physicals must be completed and submitted before the start of the new school year. Lead screening must be documented with immunizations. The Office of Child Care Services requires annual lead screening for children up to the age of four years.
Our primary concern is to keep all children healthy and safe while in our care. Therefore we ask parents to do the following. Parents will kindly keep an ill or contagious child at home. If a child becomes ill at the Center, the parent will be contacted and required to make arrangements for the child to be taken home. Before returning to the Center a child must be temperature free, vomit free, and diarrhea free for 24 hours. Should a child be injured at the Center, staff members are trained to administer basic first aid. An incident report will be completed and the parent will receive a copy of this report. If the injury requires more care or evaluation, the parent will be contacted and advised to take the child to a physician. If the parent cannot be reached, the person/persons on the child’s emergency contact list will be called to pick up the child. In an extreme emergency, EMS will be called and the child will be transported to the closest hospital. We will continue to monitor the situation and continue to attempt to locate the parent.
If at any time a child has been placed on medication then they cannot return for 24 hours. Should a child need medication while at the Center, the parent will be required to fill out an Authorization for Medication form. These medications will be kept in the kitchen. For non-prescription, over the counter, and topical medications an "Authorization for Medication Form," must be signed by a Physician, before anything can be administered.
* A Health Care Policy is available for more detailed procedures and policies.
Children should wear washable play clothes that fit. An important part of early childhood development involves doing messy activities for learning and fun. An extra set of clothes is required to be kept at the Center in the event that a child needs to be changed. If a child is enrolled for full days, a sheet and blanket is necessary for rest time. If a child is in the process of Potty Training, we ask that the parent dress them in clothing that is easily removable for both the child and the teacher. This will enable a child to feel independent and will be a big boost to his/her self esteem. Parents and teachers need to communicate well and discuss all Potty Training issues.
